Contributions of Integrative and Complementary Practices in pregnancy: a literature review

Resumo: | Integrative and Complementary Practices (IPCPs) are techniques aimed at restoring the body's balance and well-being. When applied to pregnant women, they become a therapy that aims to reduce the emotional, physical, and psychological effects generated by pregnancy. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the benefits of Integrative and Complementary Practices during pregnancy. This is an integrative, descriptive and qualitative review. The research used as search platforms the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PUBMED and Scielo. The time frame includes the years 2015 to 2020 and the keywords were combined in English and Portuguese. A flowchart was performed with the selection of articles and these were organized in a table. The authors reported that electroacupuncture can reduce pain or that the use of herbal medicines can help to reinforce breast milk. On the other hand, the concern was the reduction of low back pain that can be improved with auriculotherapy. In addition, the effect of these techniques has been shown to suffer anxiety and depression developed during pregnancy. It is emphasized that no significant adverse effects were reported. Finally, the PICS can act as an alternative therapy for pregnant women and that it is of utmost importance that these techniques be applied by health systems and that they be known by both health professionals and patients. In fact, there was na improvement in insomnia and mood among the women Who used the techniques. |

Cuando se aplican a las mujeres embarazadas, se convierten en una terapia que pretende reducir los efectos emocionales, físicos y psicológicos generados por el embarazo. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación es analizar los beneficios de las prácticas integradoras y complementarias durante el embarazo. Se trata de una revisión integradora, descriptiva y cualitativa, la investigación utilizó como plataformas de búsqueda la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud (BVS), PUBMED y Scielo. El recorte temporal incluye los años 2015 a 2020 y las palabras clave se combinan en inglés y portugués. Se realizó un diagrama de flujo con la selección de artículos y éstos se organizaron en una tabla. Los autores informaron de que la electroacupuntura puede reducir el dolor o que el uso de fitoterapias puede ayudar a reforzar la leche materna. Por otro lado, la preocupación era la reducción del dolor lumbar que puede mejorar con la auriculoterapia. Además, se demostró el efecto de estas técnicas sufre la ansiedad y la depresión desarrolladas durante el embarazo. Se subraya que no se notificaron efectos adversos significativos. Por último, el PICS puede actuar como una terapia alternativa para las mujeres embarazadas y que es de suma importancia que estas técnicas sean aplicadas por los sistemas de salud y que sean conocidas tanto por los profesionales de la salud como por los pacientes. De hecho, hubo una mejora del insomnio y del estado de ánimo entre las mujeres que utilizaron las técnicas.As Práticas Integrativas e Complementares (PICS) são técnicas que visam o retorno do equilíbrio do corpo e do bem-estar, quando aplicada em gestantes trona-se uma terapia que visa diminuir os efeitos emocionais, físicos e psicológicos gerados pela gestação. Dessa maneira, o objetivo da pesquisa é analisar os benefícios das Práticas Integrativas e Complementares durante a gestação. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa, descritiva e qualitativa, a pesquisa utilizou como plataformas de busca a Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), PUBMED e Scielo. O recorte temporal inclui os anos de 2015 a 2020 e as palavras-chave foram combinadas nas línguas inglesa e portuguesa. Realizou-se um fluxograma com seleção dos artigos e estes foram organizados em um quadro. Os autores relatam que a eletroacupuntura pode reduzir as dores ou que o uso de fitoterápicos pode auxiliar no reforço do leite materno. Por outro lado, a preocupação era a redução das dores lombares que pode ser melhorada com a auriculoterapia. Além disso, demonstrou-se o efeito destas técnicas sofre a ansiedade e depressão desenvolvidas durante a gravidez. Ressalta-se que não foram relatados efeitos adversos significativos. Por fim, as PICS podem atuar como terapia alternativa para gestantes e que é de suma importância a aplicação destas pelos sistemas de saúde e que seja de conhecimento tanto do profissional de saúde quanto da paciente.
