Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the incidence of arterial hypertension and resulting deaths from diseases associated with hypertension in the elderly population in a non-metropolitan city in the state of Amazonas-Brazil. Methodology: This is an epidemiological study, based on secondary data, carried out by searching for scientific publications in databases such: SciELO, PubMed and Lilacs, in addition to that, data made Available by the WHO, IBGE and Brazil’s Ministry of Health has been used. Results: The incidence rates of arterial hypertension exhibit a greater participation of elderly females, in addition to the incidence and mortality rates being statistically superior than the state rates, in Itacoatiara-AM. Conclusion: This study evaluated the SAH scenario in a rural city on Amazonas, highlighting the need of actions oriented to prevent, guide and manage the clinical condition of arterial hypertension on the elderly population.

Metodología: Se trata de um estúdio epidemiológico, basada em datos secundários, realizado mediante búsqueda de publicaciones científicas em bases de datos como: SciELO, PubMed y Lilacs. Además, se utilizaron datos puestos a disposición por la OMS, el IBGE y el Ministerio de Salud de Brasil. Resultados: Las tasas de incidência de hipertensión arterial presentan mayor participación del sexo feminino, además de que las tasas de incidência y mortalidade son estadísticamente superiores a las estatales, em Itacoatiara-AM. Conclusión: Este estudio evaluó el escenario de la HAS en una ciudad rural de Amazonas, destacando la necesidad de acciones orientadas a prevenir, orientar y manejar el cuadro clínico de hipertensión arterial en la población anciana.Objetivo: Avaliar a incidência de hipertensão arterial e óbitos decorrentes de doenças hipertensivas na população idosa em uma cidade não-metropolitana do estado do Amazonas. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico baseado em dados secundários, realizado a partir da busca de publicações científicas em bases de dados como: SciELO, PubMed e Lilacs. Além do uso de dados disponibilizados pela OMS, pelo IBGE e pelo Ministério da Saúde do Brasil. Resultados: Os índices da incidência de hipertensão arterial demonstram maior prevalência em idosos do sexo feminino, além dos índices de incidência e mortalidade serem superiores estatisticamente aos índices estaduais, em Itacoatiara-AM.
