Strategies for health promotion related to mental health developed with adolescents in school

Resumo: Adolescence is a period of rapid biological and psychosocial changes and schools seem to be an appropriate place to develop interventions to promote mental health. The objective of the present study was to do an integrative review to identify the main themes in terms of mental health in the adolescence and to analyze the main strategies of intervention adopted and their results. Of 285 articles found, only 5 were selected as they were interventions on mental health promotion with adolescents in schools. We observed a focus on developing social competences, which brought apparent positive results in terms of creating a wellness environment and promoting better life quality for adolescents.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue hacer una revisión integrativa para identificar los principales temas abordados en términos de salud mental en esa franja etaria y analizar las principales estrategias de intervención para promoción de la salud mental adoptadas y sus resultados. De los 285 artículos encontrados, sólo 5 fueron seleccionados por tratarse de intervenciones de promoción de la salud mental con adolescentes en ambientes escolares. Se observó un gran foco en el desarrollo de competencias sociales con resultados aparentemente satisfactorios en la creación de un ambiente de bienestar social y calidad de vida para los adolescentes.A adolescência é um período marcado por rápidas mudanças biológicas e psicossociais e a escola parece ser um lugar apropriado para intervenções de promoção da saúde mental.
