Physiological quality for cotton seeds storage passed on the gravity table

Resumo: The objective of this study to evaluate the physiological quality during storage of cotton seeds collected in different positions of the gravity table after their processing. Cotton seeds were used (Gossypium hirsutum L. r.) BRS 269 - Buriti, with an initial moisture content of 9.98±0.48% wet basis (wb). Initially the seeds were processed and were later passed on the gravity and separate table. The seeds were stored in a natural environment. The treatments were collection points in gravity table: control (only benefited seeds); 0 and 16 cm (A); 16 to 32 cm (B); 32 to 48 cm (C); 48-64 cm (D); 64-80 cm (E) and 80 to 96cm (F) and storage time (0, 60, 120 and 180 days). They were evaluated during storage water content, bulk density, germination, germination speed index (GSI), low temperature germination and electrical conductivity. The moisture content and bulk density show variations during storage. During storage, germination at low temperature decreased while increasing electrical conductivity for all treatments indicating a loss of quality during storage, and these behaviors were less severe for the treatment and the greater intensity for the treatment F. Discarding the seeds of the lower part (Treatment F) gravity table during transfer contributes to improving the physiological quality of batches of cotton seeds.

Se utilizaron semillas de algodón (Gossypium hirsutum L. r.) Cultivar BRS 269 - Buriti, con un contenido de agua inicial de 9.98 ± 0.48% en base húmeda (b.u.). Inicialmente, las semillas se procesaron y luego se transfirieron a la mesa densimétrica para su separación. Posteriormente, las semillas se almacenaron en un entorno natural. Los tratamientos fueron los puntos de recolección ubicados a la salida de la mesa densimétrica: control (semillas procesadas sin transferencia en la mesa densimétrica); 0 a 16 cm (H); 16 a 32 cm (B); 32 a 48 cm (C); 48 a 64 cm (D); 64 a 80 cm (E) y 80 a 96 cm (F) y el tiempo de almacenamiento (0, 60, 120 y 180 días). El contenido de agua, la masa específica aparente, la germinación, el índice de velocidad de germinación (IVG), la germinación a baja temperatura y la conductividad eléctrica se evaluaron durante el almacenamiento. El contenido de agua y la masa específica aparente variaron durante el almacenamiento. La germinación a baja temperatura disminuyó mientras que la conductividad eléctrica aumentó para todos los tratamientos, lo que indica una pérdida de calidad durante el almacenamiento, y estos comportamientos fueron menos intensos para el tratamiento A y más intensos para el tratamiento F. La eliminación de semillas de La parte inferior (Tratamiento F) de la mesa densimétrica durante la transferencia contribuye a la mejora de la calidad fisiológica de los lotes de semillas de algodón.Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar a qualidade fisiológica durante o armazenamento das sementes de algodão coletadas em diferentes posições da mesa densimétrica após o seu beneficiamento. Foram utilizadas sementes de algodão (Gossypium hirsutum L. r.) cultivar BRS 269 - Buriti, com teor de água inicial 9,98±0,48% base úmida (b.u.). Inicialmente, as sementes foram beneficiadas e em seguida foram repassadas na mesa densimétrica para separação. Posteriormente, as sementes foram armazenadas em ambiente natural. Os tratamentos foram os pontos de coleta localizados na saída da mesa densimétrica: controle (sementes beneficiadas sem repasse na mesa densimétrica); 0 a 16 cm (A); 16 a 32 cm (B); 32 a 48 cm (C); 48 a 64 cm (D); 64 a 80 cm (E) e 80 a 96 cm (F) e o tempo de armazenamento (0, 60, 120 e 180 dias). Foram avaliados ao longo do armazenamento o teor de água, massa específica aparente, germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG), germinação a baixa temperatura e condutividade elétrica. O teor de água e a massa específica aparente apresentaram variações durante o armazenamento. A germinação em baixa temperatura reduziu enquanto a condutividade elétrica aumentou para todos os tratamentos indicando uma perda de qualidade ao longo do armazenamento, sendo estes comportamentos foram de menor intensidade para o tratamento A e de maior intensidade para o tratamento F.
