Resumo: How did the reactionary sectors face the crises of the Iberian monarchies, the independence processes and the emergence of new countries? Did they maintain a static position, did they adapt to changing circumstances, were they participants in the transformations in their own way? This dossier focuses attention on the plural phenomena of response to the revolution that, in recent years, have aroused greater interest among researchers. Different works, little by little in increasing abundance, have warned about the insufficiencies of the liberal paradigm to understand, from more complete and complex perspectives, the diverse paths on which the transitions towards modern nation states took place.
