Resumo: | This exploratory study aims to evaluate by means of a Likert-scale anchored 10 questions questionnaire the extent to which a sample of 189 preschool, primary, and secondary school teachers from urban and rural area schools understand how neuroscience may help teaching and learning of their pupils. Questions contents are concerned with teachers´ basic knowledge on central nervous system, critical and sensitive periods, neuroplasticity, enriched environment, learning and development, the biology of memory, emotion, sleep and dream and how the brain codify information. Qualitative evaluation (percentage, mean, and standard deviation) has shown that most of the teachers from this sample agree that neuroscience may contribute to teaching and learning of their school disciplines. However, there were some disagreement concerning critical period and brain codifying information relevant for educational implications. Analysis of data provided information for planning a short course of educational neuroscience online. |

Analysis of data provided information for planning a short course of educational neuroscience online.
