Resumo: A prevalência das maloclusões é considerado fator importantena literatura ortodôntica, por dar diretrizes aos tratamentospropostos pelos profissionais, além de servirem deguia para um mapeamento oclusal em massa. Quando temoso conhecimento da maioria das maloclusões presentesem determinado grupo social, é possível elaborar estratégiasde prevenção para esta população envolvida. Dessaforma, o objetivo deste estudo, foi avaliar a prevalência dasmaloclusões em escolares de 10 a 16 anos de idade e a autopercepçãodos alunos no município de Itambé, Paraná,Brasil, a fim de mapearmos a maior quantidade de maloclusõesenvolvidas nessa população, para que num futurobreve, possamos elaborar uma estratégia de tratamentoeficaz preventivo para esses pacientes.
