‘Invalid, widowed, still living thanks to the spirit of human solidarity’: the soldiers who supported the incorporation of Acre to Brazil (1902-1904).

Resumo: The following article elaborates a narrative analysis on the contributions of low-ranking soldiers in the struggles for the incorporation of Acre to Brazil between 1902 and 1904, focusing on three themess: the anlistment, the contributions of woman and children and, finally, the oblivion that hung over them at the time of receiving State benefits. The primary documents of the research are made upo f 248 records of rubber tappers and lower-ranking Workers who were summoned or not for the fights and which are now under the custody of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Acre, belonging to the Historical Documentation and Information Center of the Federal University of Acre. These sheets contain accounts of these people, who tell how They participated in the armed uprisings against Peru and Bolivia in the Purus and Acre valleys respectively. As secondary support, certains sources and bibliographies were activated, which supported the construction of the text.   Key-words: Incorporation; Acre; Brazil; soldiers; low rank.

Os documentos primários da pesquisa compõem-se de 248 fichas de seringueiros e trabalhadores menos graduados que foram convocados ou não para as lutas e que hoje estão guardadas no acervo Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Acre, pertencente ao Centro de Documentação e Informação Histórica do Museu Universitário, da Universidade Federal do Acre, na coleção Documentos Históricos. Essas fichas contêm relatos dessas pessoas, que contam como participaram dos levantes armados contra o Peru e Bolívia nos vales do Purus e Acre respectivamente. Como suporte secundário foram acionadas determinadas fontes e bibliografias, que deram suporte à construção do texto.
