THE USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN THE INNOVATION OF PORT LOGISTICS SYSTEMS

Resumo: The characteristics of Port Community Systems (PCS) affect how collaboration between players in the port community is established. The digitalization made in terminals, within the scope of the PCS, has fostered the development of horizontal collaboration in the port community. Access to relevant data and information creates opportunities for new business models for the port community. Through the analysis carried out in this study, we concluded that the implementation of a Physical Internet can take decades, but the change in the services provided by the PCS is configuring a change in mentality from Isolated Supply Chains to Open Supply Chains, promoting the Physical Internet.

La digitalización hecha en terminales en el entorno de los PCS ha fomentado el desarrollo de la colaboración horizontal en la comunidad portuaria. El acceso a datos e informaciones relevantes crea oportunidades para nuevos modelos de negocios para la comunidad portuaria. A través del análisis realizado en este estudio, concluimos que la implementación de una Internet Física puede llevar décadas, pero el cambio en los servicios que brinda el PCS está configurando un cambio de mentalidad de Cadenas de Suministro Aisladas a Cadenas de Suministro Abiertas, impulsando la Internet Física.As características dos Port Community Systems (PCS) afetam como a colaboração entre os players pode ser estabelecida na comunidade portuária. A digitalização feita em terminais no âmbito dos PCS tem fomentado o desenvolvimento da colaboração horizontal na comunidade portuária. O acesso a dados e informações relevantes cria oportunidades para novos modelos de negócios para a comunidade portuária.
