Resumo: Throughout history, cities in the Xingu region have undergone major economic, demographic, environmental, social and political transformations that have modified their territorial and urban development. Altamira and its cities of influence underwent, in the context of the Brazilian Amazon, two macro configurations: the construction of the BR-230 highway (Transamazônica) and the construction of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE). The objective of this article is to synthesize these transformations considering that urban planning, in this case, based on the manageability of large economic infrastructures, ordered the Xingu space from a rational-physical-territorial perspective, being, therefore, the form of planning that led to this region to be what it is today. In order to reach this objective, the explanatory-analytical method was used, focusing on the historical observation of the praxis of urban planning in the territory, and, in a complementary way, a systematic bibliographical research of notorious works on the subject was carried out. It is observed that throughout these experiences, functionalist urban planning was instrumental in the reorganization of this space during the impacts of these enormous infrastructures in the Xingu region. Therefore, based on this, it is expected that the functionalist way of ordering the urban space will propagate trends of continuity with the attempts to implement the Belo Sun Project.

No. 60 (2022): Revista UnivapRevista Univap; v. 28 n. 60 (2022): Revista Univap2237-17531517-327510.18066/revistaunivap.v28i60reponame:Revista UniVap (online)instname:Universidade do Vale do Paraíba (Univap)instacron:UNIVAPporhttps://revista.univap.br/index.php/revistaunivap/article/view/4383/2211Xingu Integration Region or Altamira; Military Government or Dilma Rousseff Government.Região de Integração do Xingu ou Altamira; Governo Militar ou Governo Dilma Rousseff.Copyright (c) 2022 Revista Univaphttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPimentel, Cleyton Alves CandeiraRavena, Nírvia2022-12-19T16:41:14Zoai:ojs.biblioteca.univap.br:article/4383Revistahttps://revista.univap.br/index.php/revistaunivapPRIhttps://revista.univap.br/index.php/revistaunivap/oairevista@univap.br2237-17532237-1753opendoar:2022-12-19T16:41:14Revista UniVap (online) - Universidade do Vale do Paraíba (Univap)false
