Resumo: It is a study about learning related to the doctor's work, carried out through the technique of life history. The central objective was to understand how learning to work occurs during the life course of a doctor. The concept of learning is that of a continuous process, reflective from experience. The interviewee reported experiences that were the most remarkable of his career. Among them: appreciation and exchange of experiences with same medical specialty colleagues; professional practice as a career potentiator and the new physician training; orientation/mentoring at different times - from the decision to study medicine; search for readings and participation in events in the specialty area; teaching (undergraduate and graduate) as a continuous learning form and a motivating element in its formation, seen as constant and progressive learning. In this sense, professional practice is a driver of its trajectory and the new physician's formation, who are its students. Thus, learning to this physician through continuous reflection on the experiences that occur in daily medical practice, producing joint publications (colleagues and students), revealing new ways to learn and teach for work.

O objetivo central foi compreender como ocorre a aprendizagem para o trabalho no decorrer da trajetória de vida de um médico. O conceito de aprendizagem é o de um processo contínuo, reflexivo a partir da experiência. O entrevistado relatou experiências que foram as mais marcantes da sua trajetória. Dentre elas: valorização e realização de trocas de experiência com colegas da mesma especialidade médica; a prática profissional como potencializadora da sua trajetória e da formação de novos médicos; orientação/mentor em diferentes momentos – desde a decisão de cursar medicina; busca de leituras e participação em eventos na área da especialidade; destaque da docência (graduação e pós-graduação) como forma de aprendizagem contínua e elemento motivador na sua formação, vista como aprendizado contínuo e progressivo. Nesta direção, a prática profissional é vista como impulsionadora da sua trajetória e da formação de novos médicos, que são seus alunos.
