Resumo: Spatial planning is essential to make the transition to a green economy. Among the various elements related to this theme, soil stands out for its social, environmental, and economic importance. For example, it is essential to contribute to carbon sequestration, food production, the maintenance of biodiversity, and the preservation of water resources. Soils are not renewed on the human time scale, so accelerated erosion becomes a severe public management problem. This paper presents an analysis of the importance of actions to prevent ravines and gullies, in the scope of territorial, urban, and rural development, for the consolidation of green economy initiatives in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. For this, a bibliographic review was carried out to identify the main causes and possible initiatives that may contribute to this transition. The results demonstrate the need to consolidate government initiatives to a) carry out territorial planning, considering the susceptibility to erosion; b) to identify and monitor sensitive areas; c) to promote the prevention of erosion on roads and green roads; d) develop erosion prevention and control actions in agricultural areas and in urban areas. The proposed actions make it possible to carry out territorial management focused on soil preservation and the prevention of accelerated erosion, considering the promotion of good practices and the development of prevention and mitigation.
