This paper wants to show the importance of cartography for learning geography discipline, analyzing the development of this area of knowledge over time, as well as the profound changes experienced by this science in order to understand the contemporary world scene, each time more rooted in information technology. In the contract guidelines of the State of São Paulo, from elementary school II as the Middle school, even when a learning situation is not focused on the cartography itself, it is used as a facilitator for other issues such as the IHD - Index Human Development, religions, economics, among others. Based on the current importance of cartographic concepts that are worked on all volumes of the contract guidelines of the State of São Paulo, it is considered necessary to stimulate the student an affinity for Cartography in the sense of understanding of its concepts and language, expressed, for example, in maps and charts. In the current setting, surrounded by information technology also adds up the importance of geotechnology as support for teaching. The geography teaching methodologies exponentially expand over time due to the capacity of technological developments, especially with regard to cartography, Digital Cartography and Mapping on the Internet, and other Geotechnologies. This work is the result of the experience of the Geoencart, which was held a training course in Cartography and Geo students from public school teaching Eng. Foot Rubens Guimarães, which were detailed knowledge of Cartography and Geo teaching fundamental, through new teaching methods provided by information technology, created based on the demands observed in the student notebook
