Aglomeração urbana de Araçatuba-Birigui: eixos de produção do espaço urbano

Resumo: The main objective of this monograph is to analyze how the process of space production in the non-metropolitan urban agglomeration of Araçatuba-Birigui has been occuring. The main focus of the work is the roads that link the cities of Araçatuba and Birigui. We analyzed how space has been produced in these localities over time and how the presence of implemented projects contributes to the factors that make these municipalities an urban agglomeration. Firstly, the concepts of medium-sized cities and urban agglomeration are briefly discussed. Afterwards, a brief history of the municipalities of Araçatuba and Birigui is presented and, finally, we address the issues related to space production on the roads that were objects of this monograph. Based on the identification and characterization of the projects, we found that the production of space on the roads has intensified since the 1990s, with a significant number of commercial and service establishments and the strenght of the real estate market, with a significant presence of close residential spaces. Material and immaterial flows intensify from the presence of these ventures, amplifying the interaction of spatial interactions

O trabalho tem como foco principal os eixos rodoviários que interligam as cidades de Araçatuba e Birigui. Analisamos como o espaço tem sido produzido nestas localidades no decorrer do tempo e como a presença dos empreendimentos implantados contribui para os fatores que tornam estes municípios uma aglomeração urbana. Primeiramente, são abordados de forma sucinta os conceitos de cidades médias e aglomeração urbana. Em seguida, é apresentado um pouco da história dos municípios de Araçatuba e Birigui e por fim, abordamos as questões referentes à produção do espaço nos eixos rodoviários que foram objetos desta monografia. A partir da identificação e caracterização dos empreendimentos, constatamos que a produção do espaço nos eixos rodoviários intensificou-se a partir da década de 1990, merecendo destaque o número de estabelecimentos comerciais e de serviços e a força do mercado imobiliário, por meio da presença significativa de espaços residenciais fechados.
