Espaço urbano e consumo de moradias: a expansão de quitinetes no entorno do campus da UNESP, na cidade de Rio Claro/SP

This research seeks to understand the production of residential space in the city of Rio Claro / SP focusing mainly on analyzing the growth of the kitchenette type housing in the neighborhoods: Bela Vista, Indaiá Vila, Vila Nova and German Village, correlating these with proximity Campus of UNESP / Rio Claro - SP. This type of housing is also present in other parts of the city, however, there is a clear concentration in the surrounding districts of Unesp. In this context the research was aimed at analyzing the expansion of kitchenette type of housing in these neighborhoods. To this end, we carried out qualitative and quantitative research seeking to verify the level of expansion of this type of housing and its relationship with the production and consumption of urban space in this area of the city. Still analyzing the social, public and private actors, to understand housing as a commodity and its value in real estate. The kitchenettes are addressed as real estate products that contribute to the expansion of the city and contribute to the fragmentation of urban space. We also found the factors that led college students to opt for this type of housing, it helped us to reflect on the production of place in the urban area from the housing consumption. The survey was conducted according to the theoretical and methodological framework of Urban Geography, well, we conducted on-site field work in every neighborhood, to apply the mapping method of kitchenettes buildings, carry out further photographic material collection of all the buildings in study area. Private agents produce housing as a commodity that is valued in real estate. In this context the kitchenettes can be addressed as real estate products that contribute to the expansion of the city, generating new forms of socio-spatial segregation accentuating the fragmentation of urban space
