Technologies that minimize the use of water, enhancing the use of localized irrigation systems while maintaining or increasing the productivity of irrigated crops are desirable. In this sense, the present work was developed under the hypothesis that the use of pulsed irrigation can be associated with deficient irrigation and still maintain or improve the productivity of the coriander crop (Coriandrum sativum L.). Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of pulse drip under five irrigation water depths on the productivity and water relations of coriander crop. The research was carried in the dependencies of the Rural Federal University of Pernambuco, in a protected environment. The treatments consisted of two types of application (pulses and continuous) and five irrigation water depths (40, 60, 80, 100 and 120% of ETc). In pulsed irrigation, splitting the water depth in six irrigation pulses with 60-minute intervals of rest. The crop evapotranspiration was determined directly in drainage lysimeters. The experimental design was randomized blocks in 2 x 5 factorial scheme, with three replications, totaling ten treatments and thirty experimental units. The fresh and dry mass of the aerial part and root, percentage of dry mass of the aerial part and root, aerial part height and root length were analyzed, as well as the variables of water stress index, fresh and dry mass water use efficiency, water content in aerial part root, mass production index in aerial part and root, and root /aerial part ratio. At the end of the experiment the superiority of the pulsed application for all the variables was observed, being able to reach productivities superior to the continuous application. By adopting the strategy of pulse application it is possible to obtain an economy of approximately 40% of water in the commercial production in the vegetative phase of the coriander culture.
