Bernard Tschumi poetics can be understood as a process open to other disciplines, an action which seeks the “limits” of experimental architecture, as a way of criticism to modernism in its universalistic and rationalist approach, as well as to functionalism, formalism and historicism. In his theoretical discourse, Tschumi seeks a definition of architecture, defending it as concept and experience, through the ideas of ​​“pleasure,” the “body as a judge”, program and event. Participating in the debate on contextualization, he advocates relations between the concept, context and content and possible modes of proposition - indifference, reciprocity and conflict. In this article, we present his thinking, emphasizing the idea of ​​contextual intervention as interpretation. From the analysis of three significant works of his works, we seek to understand his approach to specific situations. Deepening the debate, departing from his assertion that the architectural thinking is not a question of opposing the Zeitgeist to Genius Loci, we understand his production as part of the discussion of the place and the way we understand it – as, “poetic of complexity”, “complex places”.
