Resumo: The productive profile of the Metropolitan Area of São Paulo has been changing, resulting in the fragmentation of industrial activities in the territory and the deactivation of manufacturing sheds. Therefore, arise into the urban context large voids that are real waste, in economic, environmental and social terms. The research shows a propose of area redevelopment along the railway line of “Diagonal Sul”, between the districts of Mooca and Ipiranga. At these places, we find great opportunities to rethink the construction of the city, with new ideas and design, in view of a more sustainable development, which involves the provision of public spaces and equipment, urban linking, priority of pedestrian scale, integrated systems and infrastructure, diversification and intensification of uses and users, environmental recovery and optimization of the use of natural resources.

Consequentemente, surgem no tecido urbano grandes vazios que constituem um verdadeiros desperdício econômico, ambiental e social. O presente trabalho apresenta uma proposta de redesenvolvimento da área ao longo do eixo ferroviário da Diagonal Sul, entre os bairros da Mooca e do Ipiranga.
