Resumo: A comparison can possibly be made between Lévi-Strauss' conceptions of photography and his anguish regarding travel narratives. I intend to show that this association can only be understood in light of Lévi-Strauss' reflections concerning works of art and the role which he reserves for ethnography. On the other hand, one must have in mind his own considerations regarding the artist in order to evaluate Lévi-Strauss the photographer and the highly sensitive images which he registered during his travels in Brazil.

Meu objetivo é mostrar que compreender esta associação só é possível quando se leva em conta as reflexões de Lévi-Strauss a respeito das obras de arte e do papel que ele reserva à etnografia. Por outro lado, são suas próprias considerações sobre o artista que se deve ter em mente se nosso objetivo é avaliar o Lévi-Strauss fotógrafo e suas imagens, de enorme sensibilidade, sobre os povos e locais que registrou quando de sua viagem pelo Brasil.Universidade de São Paulo.
