Resumo: This study analyses the effects of physical therapy intervention in cases of children having cerebral paralysis, by using proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation procedures and one subject methodology. Variants controlled: muscle tone and motor performance quantitatively; crawling ability, praxic use of the hands and frequency of spontaneous voluntary motricity qualitatively. The results have shown a quantitative as well as a qualitative gain in motor performance, without alteration of muscle tone. Both have influenced the functional performance of the patient.

Both have influenced the functional performance of the patient.Este estudo analisa os efeitos da intervenção fisioterápica em criança com paralisia cerebral mediante a utilização de procedimentos de facilitação neuromuscular proprioceptiva com metodologia de sujeito único, controlando-se quantitativamente as variáveis tono muscular, performance motora e alinhamento postural geral em sedestação e qualitativamente, as variáveis utilização práxica das mãos e freqüência na motricidade voluntária espontânea. Os resultados indicaram ganho quantitativo e qualitativo na performance motora sem alteração do tono muscular. Ambos repercutiram sobre o desempenho funcional do paciente.Universidade de São Paulo.
