POLES OF OPPOSITION IN DRUMMOND’S POETRY: A READING OF THE POEM PASSAGEM DA NOIT

Resumo: A short interpretation of the poem “Passagem da noite” by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, written on the poems book A rosa do povo, of 1945. The chosen way for the interpretation text follows the direction of the two opposite poles found in Drummond’s poetry, MY OWN versus THE WORLD, especially at this book. Our objective is to demonstrate how Drummond works with these two perspectives. If in some poems, the poet chooses only one of the poles, as in “Versos à boca da noite”, in “Passagem da noite” we find a kind of harmony or maybe, a conflict. O caminho privilegiado para a leitura do texto segue a direção dos dois pólos de oposição encontrados na poesia de Drummond, o EU versus o MUNDO, especialmente neste livro. Nosso objetivo é mostrar como Drummond trabalha com estas duas perspectivas. Se em alguns poemas, o poeta privilegia somente um dos pólos, como em “Versos à boca da noite”, em “Passagem da noite” encontraremos uma espécie de harmonia ou mesmo, um embate.
