The present Research Project aims to analyze the institution of international adoption under the aegis of the new law on adoption - 12010/2009, which, among other actions, regulates international adoption and the new procedures for such an institute. Among the aspects studied stands out the basics of domestic adoption, international adoption and the requirements of both, so as to reach the final result, which is the identification of the major innovations introduced by the new law of adoption in international adoption. The method used was the deductive approach, taking as starting point the adoption of a general, coming to international adoption, and through adoption of the new law, we can perceive the emergence of the institution of adoption, its procedures and legislative changes responsible for solving social problems related to the subject. This work was made based on literature, since the argument is founded on doctrinal research. As international adoption is an exceptional measure, should be used only in latter case, which means, only if there is no alternative toinclusion of children and adolescents in a foster family nationwide. Based on this analysis it was concluded that the innovations coming from the new law appearedto give more effectively and guarantee to the institution of adoption.
