Resumo: | Introduction: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is defined as a disorder related to neurodevelopment, being characterized by a deficit in social interaction, accompanied by restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behaviors, interests and activities. The treatment of children with ASD must rely on a multidisciplinary team, in which the presence of a Physiotherapy professional is important for the intervention in the manifestations presented related to motor skills. Objective: to synthesize research published in the literature since 2015, reporting the effects of sensorimotor interventions on psychomotor balance and performance and other relevant results in children with ASD. Methods: an integrative review, carried out in the Scielo, LILACS, Pubmed, PEDro and BVS databases to answer the research question: “what are the effects of sensorimotor interventions on balance and psychomotor performance in children with ASD?”. Results: the search in the databases found 337 results. Of these, after analyzing the criteria, 11 articles were included in this review, being characterized and analyzed descriptively. Most studies aimed to improve motor skills and balance, obtaining significant results in all different approaches that included: Tai chi Chuan, sensory integration therapy, animal-assisted therapy, virtual reality, yoga, hydrotherapy, motor skill training, motor training associated with transcranial electrical stimulation, recreational exercises. Those who were most effective in balance and psychomotor performance were those who used motor exercises. Conclusion: sensorimotor interventions were effective in improving postural balance, whether static or dynamic, and psychomotor performance of children with ASD. |
