Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) involves a set of developmental disorders with biological causes, with a variety of socialization disorders occurring. Having some common characteristics in these patients, such as difficulty in maintaining eye contact, repetition of words, inversion of pronouns, language delay and stereotyped behavior. Its diagnosis is clinical, with specific treatment for each case. Many children come to the office with oral problems already installed, and some factors for this to happen are a diet rich in sweet foods, lack of qualified professional in the area of special patients, attempt to please the child or as a reward for a task accomplished or even the use of drugs that in the long term compromise oral health. Dental care for these patients is one of the biggest challenges for dental surgeons, due to their complex and varied clinical / behavioral manifestations. The dentist must have the conventional methods of dental management, in addition to learning interaction strategies, such as audiovisual and body stimuli using subjective methods (TEACCH, ABA and PECS). The purpose of this literature review is to get to know the different facilitating methods for the dental care of patients with ASD, with the purpose of further disseminating this information so that professionals know how to properly care for individuals who have such peculiar characteristics and can provide them patients less traumatic and more successful care.
