Resumo: | The growing concern with the environment and the correct destination of products poses the possibility of product remanufacturing as one of several ways in which sustainability objectives can be achieved. The remanufacturing process is characterized by a series of specifics that differentiate it from traditional manufacturing, making it more complex and requiring different management strategies, such as lean manufacturing. In this scenario, this study had as objective to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of the philosophy of lean manufacturing in the management of the remanufacturing process. In order to do so, an in-depth case study was carried out at a company that manufactures automotive parts that has in remanufacturing one of its production strategies. The results obtained allowed to conclude that the lean philosophy contributes to the achievement of productivity gains in the remanufacturing process, but its application must be adapted to the characteristics of this process. |

The results obtained allowed to conclude that the lean philosophy contributes to the achievement of productivity gains in the remanufacturing process, but its application must be adapted to the characteristics of this process.
