A geografia física integradora de Georges Bertrand: o geossistema pelas vias da paisagem e do ambiente

The concept of geosystems is constantly resorted to in the geographical debate that articulates society nature. Even given the importance of the concept for geographic science, there has not been considerable attention to understanding the different foreign scientific legacies that have supported the research on this topic in Brazil. In this context, this paper provides a critical overview of the epistemological trajectory and conceptual ruptures, between 1959 and 2014, seen in the work of French geographer Georges Bertrand, one of the biggest names in the field and one of those responsible for the (re)construction of the so-called integrating physical geography. Based on a historical-bibliographic and comparative analysis, this study discusses the concept(s) of geosystems in Bertrand’s work and articulations there of with landscape/the environment. As evidenced, Bertrand’s discussion, comprising different periods, was developed for specific “society(ies)”  “nature(s)”. Thus, resorting to conceptual perspectives devised for particular times and realities, without due theoretical and methodological resignifications, is not fruitful to conceive geosystems today.
