Resumo: Known as a period of stagnation and obscurity, considered a time in history capable of impeding development, the Middle Age had the virtue of awakening in human beings the need to modify the lethargic state existing, giving rise, later, to Renascence. On the other hand, the manifestation of a physical character, such as practice of sport and the cult of the body, so celebrated by the Greeks and, up to a certain period, by the Romans, does not find the same stimulus in the Middle Ages.
