Summary: This text discusses relationships between youth and labor, covering the limits of professional training aimed at reducing youth unemployment and policies for placing young people in the labor market. Data on education level, qualified manpower and unemployment are presented with the goal of providing context for these issues and presenting the proposal for education within the Urban Youth Program. To fulfill this proposal, interviews were done with nine young people who took part in training that showed their visions of the professional world and concluded that the Program provided them with new meanings regarding work.
