Dropout IN COURSES IN DISTANCE EDUCATION: case study of the UFAL/UAB's pilot Administration Distance Education Course

Resumo: Dropping out in distance education courses has caused losses ranging from idle personal and material resources of the institutions until the closure of these courses with many students. In addition, the problem is aggravated due to the work of combating the dropping out of students in this mode of teaching. There is an effective policy to combat dropout in distance education courses which has been increasing significantly in recent years. This study was to investigate the factors that influenced the dropout of students of the UFAL/UAB's pilot Administration Distance Education Course. The data collection method used was quantitative and qualitative research; also, documentary and bibliographic researches were made, web graphics research and field research. Results show that the main cause why students drop out is endogenous, or it is related to Higher Education institution. Problems such as behavior linked directly to dissatisfaction with the tutor and teachers; institutional and pedagogical educational reasons requirements related to problems with the platform, and face-to-face meetings.

El problema aumenta debido al poco combate que se hace contra la evasion de dichos alumnos en cursos de esta modalidad de enseñanza. No existe una politica efectiva de combate a la evasion en los cursos de EAD que ha aumentado bastante en los últimos años. Este trabajo investiga los factores que influyeron en el aumento de evasion de alumnos del Curso Piloto de Administracion a distancia de la UFAL/UAB. La metodologia utilizada fue la investigación de campo cualitativa-cuantitativa, de tipo estudio de caso, en la cual se realizaron investigaciónes bibliograficas, documentales, webgraficas y de campo. Se constato que la principal causa de la evasion de los alumnos en el curso se debe a problemas endogenos relativos a la institucion de enseñanza superior, como la actitud comportamental relacionada directamente con la insatisfaccion respecto al tutor y a los profesores; motivos institucionales y requisitos didacticos pedagogicos referentes a problemas con la plataforma y los encuentros presenciales.A evasao nos cursos de EaD tem causado perdas que vao desde a ociosidade de recursos pessoais e materiais das instituicoes ate o fechamento de cursos com muitos alunos evadidos. O problema e agravado devido aos poucos trabalhos de combate à evasao de alunos em cursos desta modalidade de ensino. Nao existe uma politica efetiva de combate à evasao nos cursos de EaD, que vem aumentando significativamente nos últimos anos. Este estudo investiga os fatores que influenciaram a evasao de alunos do Curso Piloto de Administração a distância da UFAL/UAB. A metodologia utilizada foi pesquisa de campo qualitativa-quantitativa, de tipo estudo de caso, no qual foram realizadas pesquisas bibliograficas, documental, webgraficas e de campo.
