Resumo: The insecticidal potential of the acetone root extract of P. hispidum on H. hampei insects by topical application and contaminated surface was evaluated. Extract was obtained by ethanol 95% and submitted to chemical substance tests. Dilutions at 5.0; 1.0; 0.5; 0.1; 0.02; 0.004 and 0.0008 mg.mL-1 were used for exposure in contaminated surface and topical application. Evaluations occurred during 48 hours after exposure to the extract. Since acetone extract was highly lethal in the bioassays, results indicated the high potential of root extract of P. hispidum on H. hampei and its potential on the control of the insect.

A extração foi realizada com etanol 95% e submetida a testes de classe de substâncias químicas. Adotaram-se as diluições de 5,0; 1,0; 0,5; 0,1; 0,02; 0,004 e 0,0008 mg.mL-1 para exposição em superfície contaminada e aplicação tópica. As avaliações foram realizadas durante as 48 horas após a exposição ao extrato. O extrato acetônico apresentou eficiência na mortalidade nos bioensaios testados.
