Resumo: | Introduction: Although stretching and flexibility are similar, they present differences. Flexibility works to increase the amplitude and stretching is performed through physical exercises to improve this capacity. Objective: This study aims to discuss the influence of stretching and flexibility exercises on physical exercise. Material and Methods: This study is characterized as a review of the literature, having an exploratory characteristic, through relevant articles published in scientific journals being taken from the database such as Google Scholar, Capes, Scielo and periodicals. Literature Review: Flexibility training increases joint amplitude, decreasing the chances of injury, increasing well-being, and improving the practitioner's psychological level, allowing women to have better levels of flexibility. Stretching prevents muscle shortening by working your relaxation, but before exercising, you may lose strength. Final Thoughts: The practice of flexibility improves the physical conditioning of the athlete, however, some studies have pointed out that stretching, prior to the practice of the exercise, worsens the quality of the athlete's training. |

Objetivo: O presente estudo tem como objetivo de discutir a influência dos exercícios de alongamento e de flexibilidade na prática de exercícios físicos. Material e Métodos: Este estudo se caracteriza como uma revisão da literatura, tendo característica exploratória, por meio de artigos relevantes publicados em revistas cientificas sendo retirados no banco de dados como o Google Acadêmico, Capes, Scielo e revistas periódicas. Revisão da Literatura: O treinamento de flexibilidade aumenta amplitude da articulação, diminuindo as chances de provocar lesões, aumentando o bem estar e melhorando o nível psicológico do praticante sendo que a mulher poderá ter melhores níveis de flexibilidade. O alongamento evita o encurtamento muscular trabalhando seu relaxamento, porém, antes da prática do exercício físico poderá acarretar perca de força. Considerações Finais: A prática da flexibilidade melhora o condicionamento físico do atleta, entretanto alguns estudos apontaram que o alongamento, antes da pratica do exercício, piora a qualidade no treinamento do atleta.
