Resumo: Mast cell tumor is the most common skin tumor among dogs, affecting middle-aged and elderly canines. Boxer, Bulldog, Shar Pei and Labrador breeds are predisposing. Diagnosis can be made primarily by cytopathology and/or histopathology. Its appearance is varied, but it is often locally invasive. Currently, two methods of histological grading are used. For treatment, surgical excision is preferred, but all cases must be studied individually according to the site of involvement. Most mast cell tumors appear on the trunk and limbs, the head and neck are less frequent. This work addresses data such as predisposing races, age group, sex, means of diagnosis, anatomical location and histological grading. The results were presented in the article Canine Cutaneous Mast cell Tumor – 25 cases diagnosed in Caxias do Sul, which will be submitted to the journal Archieves of Veterinary Science, that aimed to carry out a retrospective study about the occurrence of mast cell tumors in two clinics in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, from 2019 to 2022. So, a retrospective study was carried out in which profile information was collected, anatomical location of the neoplasm, means of diagnosis and histological grade. Altogether, 25 cases were included in the research, of which 56% (14/25) were diagnosed by cytology and later graduated by histopathology, one case (4%) was diagnosed by histopathology and 10 (40%) were diagnosed by means of cytopathology. As for the sex, 68% (17/25) were females, with an average age of 8.9 years. The most frequent breeds were Poodle (4/25) Pincher (3/25) followed by Boxer (2/25) and Labrador Retriever (2/25). The most frequent anatomical location was the limbs and trunk (85.18%). The most recorded histopathological grade was grade II (87.5%) and low grade (81.25%). We emphasize the importance of cytology as a form of screening and histopathology for proper validation, graduation and obtaining a diagnosis and also the performance of adequate treatment for the tumor and patient as a whole.

Centro Universitário da Serra GaúchaBrasilFSGSapin, Carolina da Fonsecahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1195228445760974Bertoni, Luiza2022-12-12T12:30:16Z2022-12-022022-12-12T12:30:16Z2022-11-16info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttps://repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br/handle/123456789/4194porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubasinstname:Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)instacron:CUB2022-12-12T12:35:54Zoai:repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br:123456789/4194Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttps://repositorio.brazcubas.edu.br/oai/requestbibli@brazcubas.edu.bropendoar:2022-12-12T12:35:54Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubas - Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)false
