Resumo: Introduction: The immune system is formed by large amounts of cells, molecules and organs, which maintain the homeostasis of the organism. This system's main function is to differentiate the self from the non-self, protecting the organism against pathogens. Objective: To characterize Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), to conceptualize SLE nephritis and to highlight the tests that help in the diagnosis of nephritis. Methods: Bibliographic review of scientific articles from Scielo, PubMed, Google scholar. Discussion: The kidney is a vital organ for human beings, it plays the role of eliminating toxins and harmful elements as well as maintaining the balance of water and liquids. Systemic lupus erythematosus is characterized by causing immune dysregulation, producing a high concentration of autoantibodies leading to the involvement of organs and systems. Conclusion: Based on the scientific articles analyzed, the appearance of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is associated with an abnormal production of autoantibodies, which fight against the organism itself and cause immune dysregulation.

Esse sistema tem como principal função diferenciar o próprio do não próprio, protegendo o organismo contra patógenos. Objetivo: Caracterizar o Lúpus Eritematoso Sistêmico (LES), conceituar a nefrite por LES e destacar os exames que auxiliam no diagnóstico da nefrite. Métodos: Revisão bibliográfica em artigos científicos da Scielo, PubMed, Google acadêmico. Discussão: O rim é um órgão vital para o ser humano, ele desempenha o papel de eliminar toxinas e elementos nocivos assim como manter o equilíbrio de água e líquidos. O Lúpus Eritematoso Sistêmico é caracterizado por causar a desregulação imune, produzindo alta concentração de autoanticorpos levando ao comprometimento de órgãos e sistemas.
