Diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in library and information science podcasts

Resumo: The principles and practices of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) have been increasingly incorporated into professional and academic spheres in order to combat the multiple dimensions of inequalities and other existing stratifications in society that refer to social injustices. In turn, the availability and access to information on the internet and social media can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable training of professionals from different fields of knowledge, particularly those in the field of Librarianship and Information Science (BCI), since that the information is the main input in this area. The objective of the research was to analyze Brazilian BCI podcasts that deal with the DEIA, through the methodology of content analysis to identify titles, authorship and affiliation, temporality and frequency of the episodes and themes addressed. The results showed that the BCI field is not alien to the principles and practices that govern DEIA, since most podcasts address ethnic-racial themes, feminism, LGBTQIA+, accessibility and inclusion from the perspective of intersectionality.

A su vez, la disponibilidad y acceso a la información en internet y redes sociales puede contribuir a una formación más inclusiva y equitativa de los profesionales de diferentes campos del conocimiento, en particular del campo de la Bibliotecología y las Ciencias de la Información (BCI), ya que la información es el insumo principal en esta área. El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar los podcasts brasileños del BCI que tratan de la DEIA, a través de la metodología de análisis de contenido para identificar títulos, autoría y afiliación, temporalidad y frecuencia de los episodios y temas abordados. Los resultados mostraron que el campo BCI no es ajeno a los principios y prácticas que rigen DEIA, ya que la mayoría de los podcasts abordan temas étnico-raciales, feminismo, LGBTQIA+, accesibilidad e inclusión desde la perspectiva de la interseccionalidad.Os princípios e práticas da diversidade, equidade, inclusão e acessibilidade (DEIA) têm sido cada vez mais incorporados nos âmbitos profissionais e acadêmicos visando combater as múltiplas dimensões das desigualdades e outras estratificações existentes na sociedade que remetem às injustiças sociais. Por sua vez, a disponibilidade e o acesso à informação na internet e nas mídias sociais podem contribuir para uma formação mais inclusiva e equitativa de profissionais de diversos campos de conhecimento, particularmente aqueles do campo da Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação (BCI), uma vez que a informação é o insumo principal dessa área. O objetivo da pesquisa foi analisar podcasts brasileiros de BCI que abordem a DEIA, por meio da metodologia de análise de conteúdo visando identificar títulos, autoria e afiliação, temporalidade e frequência dos episódios e temáticas abordadas.
