Resumo: A work carried out with pineapple slips of different weights showed that the heavier slips (180-200 g) gave an earlier fructification than the lighter ones, after six months of planting. The difference was significant on the level of 1%, the heavier slips giving 45,8% of the plants with an earlier fructification; the other classes of slips didn't give any fructification after that period of time.

Com a cultivar Pérola, foram testados quatro pesos de mudas: a) 180- 200 g; b) 130-150 g; c) 80- 100 g e d) 50- 70 g. O delineamento estatístico foi o de blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições.
