Resumo: | Fruits of native Myrtaceae have volatile substances that favor the attractiveness of female fruit flies (Anastrepha spp.) to oviposition, which may influence the levels of pest infestation. The aim of this research was to evaluate the correlation between the infestation of fruit flies of the genus Anastrepha and the total phenolic compounds in the peel of native Myrtaceae fruits. The study was conducted in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 crop seasons, in municipalities in the Alto Vale do Rio do Peixe region, in Santa Catarina state. Fruit flies infestation rates were obtained from the number of puparia per fruit and number of puparia per fruit weight. To evaluate these indexes, 200 and 150 fruits/fruit species/place were used, in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 crop seasons, respectively. The quantification of phenolic compounds was made from samples of 50 fruits/fruit species/place, using the Folin-Ciocalteu method. It was found that the total phenolic compounds of the fruit peel are positively correlated with the highest infestation rates of fruit flies of the genus Anastrepha in native Myrtaceae fruits in the Alto Vale do Rio do Peixe region, in Santa Catarina. |
