Resumo: The objectives are to identify the reasons for the referrals of pregnant women to high-risk prenatal care in the city of Aracaju-SE in the year 2016, as well as to verify the index of pregnant women inserted in the program after referral and to identify the age group and gestational age of these pregnant women. The research is a descriptive, retrospective documentary, with a quantitative approach that evaluated 704 referrals from pregnant women to High Risk Pre-Natal, using data from the Pre-Natal Risk Regulation Control Worksheet of the city of Aracaju / SE, during the period from January to December 2016. The hypertensive syndrome was the most prevalent pathology, accounting for 21.59% of the pathologies most referred to the high risk service. In relation to the age group, the highest percentage of referrals is between 25 and 29 years (21.73%). Regarding gestational age, pregnant women with up to 22 weeks are referred more frequently to the service of greater complexity. Most of the pregnant women referred to this service are included in high-risk prenatal care (88.78%). It is concluded that the major reasons for referrals to high-risk prenatal care in the city of Aracaju are due to pathological complications. In addition, pregnant women with ages ranging from 25 to 29 years and gestational age <22 weeks are the ones most likely to be referred to this service.
