Meetings in the territories: school, juvenile technologies and gender

Resumo: This article discusses the school as a juvenile environment based on the analysis of ethnographicresearch and extension activities with students from two public high schools in the cities of Santos and Guarujá, located on the coast of São Paulo. Masculinities and femininities are described and discussed, considering the complexity of relationships and juvenile practices and the centrality of technologies like the internet and smartphones. It is assumed therefore, that gender expectations are shaped through the learning process. As a result of the study, reproduction as well as resistance were identified in relation to hegemonic gender positions and to the discipline of young bodies, developing strategies that give meaning to the school as a juvenile environment.

Se describen y discuten masculinidades y feminidades, considerando la complejidad de las relaciones y prácticas juveniles y la centralidad de tecnologías como Internet y celular. La perspectiva asumida comprende que las expectativas de género se constituyen en los aprendizajes. Como resultado del trabajo, fueron identificadas reproducción y resistencia en relación con las posiciones hegemónicas de género y el disciplinamiento de los cuerpos jóvenes, componiendo estrategias que dan sentido a la escuela como territorio juvenil.Cet article aborde l’école en tant que territoire des jeunes, à partir de l’analyse du matériel de recherches ethnographiques et d’activités d’extension concernant des élèves de deux lycées situés à Santos et à Guarujá, villes littorales de l’État de São Paulo. Les notions de masculinités et de féminités y sont décrites et discutées en tenant compte de la complexité des rapports et pratiques juvéniles et de la centralité des technologies, notamment l´internet et le téléphone mobile. L’approche adoptée est que les attentes en matière de genre se constituent au long desapprentissages. Ce travail a permis d’identifier qu’il existe non seulement une reproduction mais aussi une résistance aux positions hégémoniques de genre et de la discipline des corps des jeunes aboutissant à des stratégies qui donnent un sens à l’école en tant que territoire juvénile.O artigo discute a escola como um território juvenil, a partir da análise de material de pesquisas etnográficas e atividades de extensão com estudantes de duas escolas públicas de ensino médio em Santos e Guarujá, cidades do litoral de São Paulo. São descritas e discutidas masculinidades e feminilidades, considerando a complexidade das relações e práticas juvenis e a centralidade de tecnologias como internet e celular. A perspectiva assumida compreende que as expectativas de gênero se constituem nos aprendizados.
