Resumo: This dissertation has the objective the identification of advantages and disadvantages of pay-for-skills system implementation, allocated for the employees, who work at Alumar production department. The involved actors in the research were the smelter operators, where the pay-for-skills system is implemented. The methodology used was description and explanation, describing the characteristics of the system base on the description, studying the advantages and disadvantages of pay-for-skills system. Results have shown advantages for a structured implementation of payfor-skills system. Among others: The employees feel that they are responsible for their carrier development, the company can count on with more prepared employees and the employees would be more prepared for the company and market. There is a disadvantage the can be showed, system limitation and rules can make the employees feel that their carrier development is slower than the old system, considering that they are more prepared.

Os atores envolvidos na pesquisa foram os operadores da redução da Alumar, onde o sistema de remuneração por habilidades está implementado. A metodologia utilizada foi a descritiva e explicativa, descrevendo as características do sistema e com base na descrição, abordadas as vantagens e desvantagens da remuneração por habilidades. Os resultados desse estudo mostram vantagens para a implantação estruturada do sistema de remuneração por habilidades, dentre elas: o funcionário se sente mais responsável pela condução da sua carreira, a empresa passa a contar com funcionários muitifuncionais e os funcionários passam a ser mais preparados para a empresa e o mercado. Entre as desvantagens podemos citar as limitações e regras do sistema, que levam a uma lentidão do desenvolvimento da carreira dos funcionários, visto que eles estão mais preparados.porAs vantagens e
