Resumo: Introduction: Population aging is a global trend that increases the demand for specific care. Shelter homes offer assistance to elderly people who cannot live independently, with nursing being a vital component in these homes, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to guarantee the well-being of institutionalized elderly people. Objective: To provide a comprehensive overview of the care of the elderly in nursing homes, highlighting the importance of nursing care in promoting care. Methodology: This is a narrative review, with an exploratory descriptive nature. Google Scholar and Scielo platforms were used to select articles with key terms related to foster homes and the elderly. Conclusion: Nursing care in nursing homes for the elderly is essential given the aging population. Nurses play a key role in the multidisciplinary approach to meeting the complex physical and emotional needs of older people. Promoting the well-being and quality of life of this population requires constant attention and humanized approaches.

Objetivo: Fornecer uma visão abrangente sobre o cuidado de idosos em lares de acolhimento tema, destacando a importância da assistência de enfermagem na promoção do cuidado. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa, de cunho descritivo exploratório. foram usadas as plataformas Google Scholar e Scielo para selecionar artigos com os termos-chave relacionados a lares de acolhimento e idosos. Conclusão: A assistência de enfermagem em lares de acolhimento para idosos é essencial haja vista o envelhecimento populacional. Os enfermeiros desempenham um papel fundamental na abordagem multidisciplinar para atender às complexas necessidades físicas e emocionais dos idosos.
