Introduction: Psychiatric patient care in general emergency services is a crucial area of ​​medicine that deals with complex challenges and unique clinical demands. Patients presenting with psychiatric disorders in emergency situations can represent a major challenge for healthcare professionals, requiring sensitive and specialized approaches. Objective: The objective of this review is to analyze and synthesize the evidence available in the scientific literature on the care of psychiatric patients in general emergency services. Methodology: The methodology used in this review will be an integrative literature review. We will carry out systematic searches in academic databases, such as PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO and Google Scholar, using descriptors related to the topic, such as "emergency psychiatric care", "psychiatric patient in general emergency", "psychiatric triage" and other pertinent terms. Studies published in the last ten years, written in Portuguese, Spanish or English, will be included in order to cover the most recent evidence related to this complex topic. Results and Discussion: The results and discussions of this integrative review will address best practices in psychiatric patient care in general emergencies, including initial screening, diagnostic assessment, crisis management, therapeutic intervention and appropriate referral. Furthermore, the challenges faced by health professionals in this context will be discussed, such as stigmatization, lack of specific training and barriers in accessing mental health services. Final Considerations: The final considerations of this review will highlight the main conclusions and recommendations based on the evidence found. We intend to provide important insights to improve psychiatric patient care in general emergency services, promoting a more effective and humanized approach. Furthermore, we will identify gaps in the literature that can guide future research and actions in the area of ​​mental health in emergencies.
