ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN DENTISTRY: SETTING UP A PRACTICE FROM PLANNING TO OPERATION

The job market is becoming increasingly competitive and dentistry is no different. It requires dentists to have multi-professional knowledge, including financial management, administration, entrepreneurship and marketing. The aim of this work was to describe how to set up a dental practice, an important stage in professional practice. A room was acquired in a commercial building in the center of the city of Patos de Minas, with a total area of 60.11 m², divided into two dental rooms. Both are equipped with a sterilization unit and there is also a small office.  The commercial room also has two bathrooms. The first, sized to ensure accessibility, was for patients. The second is for staff. The reception area has a waiting room and a recreational area. Space has also been set aside for coffee and water. In addition, the practice of dentistry also requires regularization of the activity with public bodies, by obtaining certain documents, such as a municipal or state health permit, municipal registration or registration with a private health waste collection company, among others. This study showed that setting up a dental practice is not something that is widespread in the scientific community, and that there are few scientific articles on the subject. We therefore hope that this work can contribute both to the preparation of other similar articles and to providing guidance for recent dental graduates.
