Resumo   A palavra cultura e sua aplicação no contexto social têm sido discutidas por inúmeras concepções desde o século XVIII. A noção de cultura tem potencial para auxiliar na compreensão da diversidade humana e suas dimensões objetivas e simbólicas, colaborando para os estudos das Ciências Sociais. Diante disso, o objetivo do artigo é discutir as concepções de cultura em Denys Cuche e Marshall Sahlins, refletindo a necessária reconstituição dessa noção para pensar na diversidade humana. Foi utilizado o procedimento metodológico de revisão bibliográfica com abordagem qualitativa, em que se teve, como aporte teórico, os autores Denys Cuche (1975/1999) e Marshall Sahlins (1997a/1997b). Com a pesquisa foi possível compreender que todos os povos possuem cultura, pois é pela cultura que o ser humano se adapta ao meio e o meio se adapta ao ser humano que constrói sua identidade pelos símbolos criados.   Palavras-chaves: Cultura. Antropologia. Denys Cuche. Marshall Sahlins.   Abstract   The word culture and its application in the social context have been discussed by numerous conceptions since the 18th century. The notion of culture has the potential to assist in the understanding of human diversity and its objective and symbolic dimensions, contributing to the studies of Social Sciences. Therefore, the objective of the article is to discuss the conceptions of culture in Denys Cuche and Marshall Sahlins, reflecting the necessary reconstitution of this notion to think about human diversity. The methodological procedure of literature review with a qualitative approach was used, in which the authors Denys Cuche (1975/1999) and Marshall Sahlins (1997a/1997b) were used as theoretical support. With the research it was possible to understand that all peoples have culture, because it is through culture that the human being adapts to the environment and the environment adapts to the human being who builds his identity through the created symbols.
