Resumo: | Abstract: The aim of this text is to evidence how the relationships between YouTube platform and education were approached in academic research in Brazil between 2014 and 2019, considering the following questions: How do researches about YouTube platform have addressed and been concerned with the sphere of Education, particularly those directed to childhood(s)? Which are the main topics, objects of studying and theoretical-methodological approaches related to this research? Have the children’s points of view and their productions on YouTube been considered? In order to succinctly answer these questions, we mapped 22 works (three dissertations, sixteen thesis, and three scientific articles) in Portuguese, in 10 academic repositories by using the keywords YouTube, Childhood, Education and Consumption. By analyzing these works, we identified four major trends that enabled us to group them in the following axes: 1) Childhoods, advertisements and consumer culture in videos available on YouTube; 2) Children that produce content to YouTube: young youtubers; 3) The use of YouTube as a tool for remote learning, or as a contribution to a certain knowledge area – especially Elementary and High School audience; and 4) YouTube to record technological gestures and perceptions in Higher Education. Regarding the results of the analyses, we can highlight that a significant amount of research considers YouTube as a pedagogical tool, but just a few have a focus on children’s perceptions of either the content shown on the platform or the identity discourses spread by young youtubers. Keywords: YouTube. Childhood. Education. |

Education.
