Resumo: The objective of the article is to verify the causes of the lack of accessibility of blind consumers in retail stores for the purchase of clothing. For this, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out with the application of a questionnaire for 10 blind people in the city of Teresina (BR). The results indicated as obstacles: (I) the lack of signs written in Braille; (II) the presence of stairs without identification; (III) the disposition of aisles with unmarked obstacles; (IV) the difficulty of access to the physical store; (V) the absence of attendants to assist in the reading of clothing labels; and (VI) noncompliance with the norms in force. As possibilities, the following were listed (I) the creation of tactile labels; (II) the development of mobile applications; (III) the adaptation of physical spaces to humanize the access of people with disabilities; and (IV) the training and awareness of attendants, salespeople and professionals who deal with the general public.
