Resumo: Myxoid liposarcoma make up the biggest subset of liposarcomas, which, in most series, represent the second or third most common type of soft tissue sarcoma. The authors present a case of giant myxoid liposarcoma of the lower extremity submitted to surgical resection. A sixty-four year old man complained of an insidiously growing mass at the thigh, that reached a large size. Treatment consisted of radical excision of the tumor. Histologically the tumor was composed of atypical nuclei and mitotic figures, typical of myxoid liposarcoma. The authors discuss the main factors influencing the survival rate and the treatment of the tumor.

The authors discuss the main factors influencing the survival rate and the treatment of the tumor.
