Resumo: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that affects both men and women and it is considered a Sexually Transmissible Infection (STI). The main form of prevention is the use of condoms in sexual intercourse, but it is important to highlight that despite protecting against most Sexually Transmitted Infection (STIs), it does not totally prevent HPV infection. Therefore, it is important to highlight the importance of HPV in school environment, as the virus infection is related to the appearance of precursor lesions of cervical cancer, which has increased considerably in this age group. This study aims to evaluate the level of knowledge of teenagers about Human Papillomavirus in a school in São Luís - MA. This is a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, conducted with 162 teenagers from 09 to 14 years old in a public school, in the state of Maranhão, during the period of September 2018. The study began after approval of the Research Ethics Committee, under the opinion of nº 2.853.563. Asked about the meaning of HPV, 63.57% said they knew the meaning of HPV and 36.41% did not know the meaning. Asked if they had heard about HPV, 89.09% said they have already heard of it. It can be seen from the data provided that 38.03% were aware of the vaccine from other sources. However, they report that the information on the subject is not passed on clearly to the participants, highlighting the deficiency in the assistance of the programs offered by the Program Health in School (PHS).

However, they report that the information on the subject is not passed on clearly to the participants, highlighting the deficiency in the assistance of the programs offered by the Program Health in School (PHS).El Virus del Papiloma Humano (VPH) es un virus que afecta tanto a hombres como a mujeres y se considera una Infección de Transmisión Sexual (ITS).
