Nursing audits within the hospital environment are increasingly frequent and have been used to verify the effectiveness of care protocols and costs, in addition to avoiding or reducing nonconformities through the evaluation of records in medical records, which is an important document for assistance evaluation. Based on existing research, the present study aimed to answer the following guiding question: what are the contributions of nursing auditing to high-performance management in the hospital environment? This study is an integrative study of literature, which allows the synthesis and discussion of findings on a specific topic studied. As a result, it can be observed that the nursing audit contributes to Identification of flaws in continuing education, Identification of flaws in care, Possibility of surveying hospital expenses, Identification of improvements in the patient experience, Identification of existing flaws in the electronic medical record and Identification of existing flaws in protocols. The different audit approaches, based on records and documents relating to proof of care for billing purposes, provide management with support for decision-making and team training processes.
