Objective: To describe the role of nurses in organ donation and transplantation and tissue, checking the main difficulties faced by these professionals in the performance of organ donation and transplantation. Methods: This is an integrative review research which includes a qualitative and exploratory approach. focused on the role of nurses in organ donation and transplantation and tissue, was developed with publications indexed from 2014 to 2019, which were consulted through the electronic databases of the Virtual Health Library (BVS-Bireme), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Lilacs and Capes journals. Results: Ten scientific articles were selected through the large databases, which addressed subjects of high relevance to the proposed theme. The articles used were analyzed and interpreted precisely, so that it was possible to allocate it later in categories. Conclusion: The nurses are of paramount importance in the process of organ and tissue donation and transplantation, their presence plays a crucial role in all stages being differential, essential, and collaborative for patients and their families.
