Resumo: Diabetes mellitus (DM) requires continuous clinical treatment and teaching self-care to the patient. It is a disease with important implications for global health and the quality of life of patients and their families. Diabetic foot problems are a common complication of DM. It is a pathophysiological state, which is characterized by the presence of foot injuries resulting from peripheral and / or neurological vascular changes specific to the disease. The nurse has an important role in prevention and care, seeking to identify possible problems and complications early, which impact the life of the diabetic patient. The study aimed to show the importance of nurses for the prevention of diabetic foot through various actions. This is a narrative bibliographic review with the database in electronic search of sites such as: SciELO, LILACS, PUBMED and manuals from the Ministry of Health. The data collected are from articles from the year 2013 to 2020 complete in Portuguese and English.

Trata-se de uma doença com implicações importantes ao nível da saúde global e da qualidade de vida dos pacientes e das suas famílias. Os problemas do pé diabético é uma complicação comum da DM. É um estado fisiopatológico, que tem como característica presença de lesões nos pés decorrentes das alterações vasculares periféricas e/ou neurológicas especifica da doença. O enfermeiro tem um importante papel na prevenção e no cuidado, procurando identificar de forma precoce possíveis agravos e complicações, que impactam na vida do paciente diabético. O estudo teve o objetivo de mostrar a importância do enfermeiro para a prevenção do pé diabético através de diversas ações. Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa com a base de dados em pesquisa eletrônica de sites como: SciELO, LILACS, PUBMED e manuais do Ministério da Saúde.
